Grand Lake Stream is famous for some of the best fly-fishing for landlocked Atlantic salmon in the Northeast. There are numerous nearby lakes and rivers that contain smallmouth bass, brook trout, lake trout, white perch and of course Landlocked Salmon. You have the opportunity to rent a boat or book a day of guided fishing. Grand Lake Canoes, aka Grandlakers, which are unique to this area of Maine, are used and fishing equipment is provided on these trips if needed. These unforgettable experiences not only include fishing, fly-fishing and casting instruction, but a delicious shore dinner. For many this is the highlight of their trip!

The fishing does not have to stop in the autumn, as Canal Side Cabins Camps accommodate ice fishermen. Our cabins are insulated and winterized to keep you toasty and comfortable, while you are out ice-fishing, snowmobiling or cross-country skiing. Live bait is available on the premises during the winter.

Hunt in more than a million acres of forestland in the Great Lake Stream region for upland birds including the ruffed grouse and woodcock, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, and Maine black bear (when in season). Enjoy the picturesque vistas of a DownEast autumn while hunting the game of your choice in a challenging wilderness setting. Guided spring turkey hunts include a "run and gun" hunt in the early morning followed by fly-fishing for landlocked salmon and brook trout in the afternoon. Because of the sizable timber areas, interference from other hunters is often rare.

The actual cabins are located alongside the idyllic canal and overlooking the dam pool and date back to the late 1800s. There are a variety of cabins that sleep 2 to 7 people and our whole camp can hold up to 30 people. Each cabin includes the basics - fully equipped kitchen, dining and living rooms, bathrooms complete with bathtub and shower, DISH-network TV, propane grills, outdoor fire-pit and picnic tables for cookouts. All of the cabins have extra perks such as a screened-in porch. All cabins are very close to the lake, public beach, boat dock, and village store which provides a variety of food, fishing tackle and hunting equipment.

In addition to fishing, hunting, and the winter activities mentioned above, in the Grand Lake Stream region and its surrounding waters, trails, and wilderness offer canoeing, kayaking, hiking, ATV-ing, nature walking and more.
